Known for its sharp tailoring, the iconic skull emblem and a penchant for controversy, Alexander McQueen has always wooed fashion fanatics, the world over. McQueen did it again last night, on the big debut of its limited edition clutch and scarf for the UAE.
The dramatic metallic gold clutch sat majestically in a specially designed display, glittering in the light with the gold skulls on the muslin beige scarf wrapped beautifully around it. The limited edition for UAE includes just a hundred pieces of each and is expected to fly off the display in no time.
A recent survey report in UAE showed that as much as one third of UAE’s population buys luxury goods and is particularly attracted to designer apparel. In this mature luxury market, the ‘exclusive’ factor and the uniqueness of the product are the two most crucial factors in the segment. Given UAE’s affinity towards all things that glitter and heavy wallets to afford those things (UAE has the world’s sixth highest per capita income), it’s a brilliant move by the fashion house. Other limited editions for UAE have come from BMW and Tag Heuer in the recent past but Alexander McQueen’s offering sweeps us ladies right off our feet.
