Much has been said about the fall of the mighty Aishwarya Rai of the ‘Most beautiful woman in the world’ hall of fame from the slim and svelte coveted figure to the cherubic new- mommy frame.

While I think there is a lot of unfair pressure on her to magically morph back into her old airbrushed, almost perfect frame (I cant fathom how Victoria Beckham and Beyonce did it), the woman has managed to come up trumps at the Cannes Film Festival 2012. Nope, she didn’t drop all the weight at once (which is healthy!) but her styling was immaculate- just right to camouflage and blend, contour and create illusion. I’ve been flipping through a couple of her pictures from Cannes 2012 today and realized there’s a lot to learn from her clever fashion picks at the festival: For other new mommys as also some of us on a flab fighting mission. Here’s what she did right:

Absolutely loved the structured jacket worn as the blouse for the very elegant chikankari off white sari. The statement jacket not just covered the abundant sides but also shaped the torso perfectly. Flab? what flab? Great choice!

This flowing kaftan dress camouflages and adds a touch of St.Tropez-like glamour with those classy aviators. Again, the dress cleverly hides the flaws and the color is stunning!

This amazing Elie Saab dress, although seen many times on the redcarpet earlier this year, does full justice to the rather full figure. The high waist is the propbably the only problem here. The (now) buxom Mrs Bachan should have picked something with a lower waist. All in all though, a stunning choice for the red carpet.

She may be fuller now but she still knows how to strut her stuff in style. Kudos to her stylist!

Lingerie has as big a part to play in looking fabulously stylish as do your Chanel jacket and YSL earrings- Its just that we girls often don’t realize its importance. Your frame, your posture and how your clothing fits you, ultimately depend on what you’re wearing inside. Heck it can even take years off you just by uplifting your frame or enhancing your figure!
