NINE WEST and ALDO launched their Fall Winter 2014 collections last week. Here’s a cheeky little preview of what’s in store:
Nine West’s edgy collection this season is inspired by the Gatsbian era of the 1920s. Think thick-heeled ankle boots and thin-strapped pumps with antique gold leathers and tasseled embellishments. Floral prints and pearl accents are a subtle throwback to the extravagant era.
Also, the distressed leather boots and suede ankle booties deserve special mention. The antique metal hardware and lace up detailing on the boots spell rock-and-roll like nothing else.
Aldo’s chic new AW 2014 collection includes a collaboration with Ostwald Helgason, which was launched in Dubai at the Armani Ballroom, at the Burj Khalifa. Packed with surprises, the Ostwald Helgason x Aldo Rise was served hot on an array of fine dining crockery – What an innovative concept! I’ll say it helped build an appetite for fabulous shoes!
Douglas Bensadoun, Chief Creative Officer for ALDO says, “We’ve had a blast working with Ostwald Helgason and are excited to continue the magic for fall. Susanne and Ingvar (from Ostwald Helgason) consistently push the boundaries of creativity; there’s a confidence in their ability to balance color, texture, and pattern and clean shapes -it’s an artful science. We’re excited to see the collection arrive in stores.”The collection includes ankle boots in leather, suede, and tweed; a suede mule and suede three-piece shoe –all showcasing a vinyl-wrapped cylindrical heel. The handbags include structured satchels, crossbody, and mini bags in contrasting materials and custom hardware.
ALDO also unveiled #PERFECTPAIR, a global marketing campaign that introduces a new visual identity for the brand. To celebrate perfection in all forms, ALDO collaborated with photographer Alasdair McLellan to show a side of ALDO that’s never been seen before – honest, unfiltered and entirely personal.
“We’ve been working towards this new direction for a few years and I’m inspired knowing that it’s finally being served,” continues Bensadoun. “The cast, the photography, the styling, and the creative direction all feel real and right, never contrived and never kitsch. The overarching idea of this campaign has always been to capture imagery, moments in time, that feel just right, that feel perfect.”
So here’s to a spectacular season ahead. The shoe rack may have more than a few hot new additions.
