FY Review: Fruit peel facial at Kaya Skin Clinic Arabia

August 25, 2015

I had been thinking about getting one of these fruit peel facials for a while but always backed out last minute, just thinking of the chemicals involved and the kind of reaction I may have ( that episode of SATC where Samantha Jones gets a chemical peel and has her skin ripe as a tomato still horrifies me). Still, I braved it this time only because I trust Kaya Skin Clinic for their professional expertise and previous experience with them. Did it pay off?

Well, after my skin consultation at Kaya Skin Clinic, I went with what the dermatologist had suggested- a fruit peel facial to bring back some of the luster and life back into my overtly tanned skin. A tan really doesn’t sit well with my skin and it ends up patchy, dry and dull so all those days of sunning it out on the Amalfi Coast this summer did a lot of damage- and it showed!

At first, I was apprehensive but I was put at ease by the skin specialist who informed me about the kind of chemicals that go into the peel. Basically, the fruit peel contains Alpha Hydroxy (AHA) Glycolic, Lactic, and Pyruvic Acids and is ideal for sun damaged skin, age spots, wrinkles and hyper pigmentation. It removes the upper layers of dead and damaged skin and encourages skin cell regeneration and the percentage of glycolic acid in the mix depends on individual needs. Rest assured, the peel was not going to cause damage to my skin since it was a very light concentrate, the therapist informed me.

Care was taken to protect sensitive areas and curves on the face such as the sides of the nose, corners of the eyes and lips to avoid any burning and then the peel was applied for a very short time. It did burn a little but it was completely under control and subsided within a few minutes. My skin was then cold pressed and the entire process was over within 10-15 minutes!

I saw some results immediately- the skin looked refreshed and supple. However, full result was achieved after say 2-3 days when I saw how even toned and radiant my skin looked. Needless to say, I’m extremely happy about the result and will definitely go again. Personally, I don’t want to do it very often but whenever I have to deal with excessive tanning and dull skin, I know where to go! Its an instant rejuvenation and an excellent way to revive that glow!
