Okay, so I’m not exactly out of shape, but as my fabulously fit friends put it politely, ‘It would’nt hurt to tone up little’. That’s how I decided I’d take up the challenge at Milan Pole Fitness Studio (JLT), to try their very sensual, pole ballet class. I thought, if I was going to sweat it out, I may as well look good, doing it!
Well, the story went atleast somewhat the way I planned it. The workout was everything I imagined it to be- Strong, sexy and a lot of fun. But what I didn’t expect was the level of fitness and agility required for pole ballet. As a pole-fitness first timer, and having never done ballet before, I found myself struggling to maintain my posture during the workout but gradually, during the course of the class, I grew more confident and really began to ‘feel’ the workout.
What I loved most about it was that the instructor made everyone feel completely comfortable – and encouraged the first timers to do some pretty exciting and bold moves. It was a rush to see myself pull them off and it did give me a huge confidence boost to be able to do it – so yes, the workout was fabulously sensuous.
The pole ballet choreography was a thorough workout, exercising each muscle group at a time and looking elegant while at it! That’s what I found the most challenging about the workout- maintaining that ballerina composure and that strong and elegant line of body. I do think it’s a good think though, because it constantly reminds one not to slump or slouch- I think pole ballet is great for overall posture, even post-workout.
Overall, I had a great time learning the choreography and some pretty nifty tips and tricks on the pole. I’d highly recommend the pole ballet class at Milan Pole Dance studio for two reasons – Excellent workout and a great atmosphere.
Also, I’d love to check out their fun, ‘twerk’ fitness class as well. Miley Cyrus would be so proud to know!
