As Maroon Five so eloquently put it, this summer does hurt quite a bit- especially with 50 degrees Celsius on the thermostat! While most of Dubai’s jetsetters have taken off on their annual vacation, some of us stayed back to bask in the heat. However, it’s not all bad, considering the options for a fun filled summer staycation, within the city. My pick was The Address Dubai Mall since it came highly recommended from a few friends and for its private access to my favorite shopping destination, ofcourse!
It’s Ramadan so things are a bit on the quieter side during the day- even so, the hotel was fully staffed and ready to welcome guests. Check in was very smooth and the staff was helpful. I always place staff service at the very top while evaluating a hotel, because it’s the people and human interaction that make all the difference during a stay. If the welcome was anything to go by, then The Address Dubai Mall already had my vote.
Lunch at Na3Na3, the Arabic restaurant was simple but delightful- hot and cold mezzas, an extensive salad spread and 2 main courses – Lamb and fish made up the lunch buffet. However, it was the dessert spread that really had my attention- especially the succulent fruit pie.
After lunch, I headed to The Spa for a relaxing oriental 60 min massage – promising a rejuvenating experience. Having tried and tested a number of spas in the city, it’s quite a feat to impress a spa junkie like myself. However, The Spa at the Address Dubai Mall is easily in the top 3. My only suggestion is to crop the relaxation time just before the treatment. It was lovely, however, with lemon water to refresh and magazines to browse through, before the masseuse came to escort me to the room.
The Oriental massage itself was light and relaxing and I loved the sweet scent of vanilla and coco butter – from both, the massage oil and the candles in the room. With 9 Treatment rooms, Hydrotherapy facilities, Steam rooms and Sauna as well as Hair and nail studio, the award winning spa is truly a treat for the senses.
Next, I headed to hotel’s sprawling 36.5 meter pool, with breathtaking views of Burj Khalifa from the 3rd floor. Poolside cabanas and chaise lounge chairs dotted the sides while the pool itself was blissfully relaxing, after a hot day.
The Iftar buffet at Na3Na3 featured an extensive menu of Middle Eastern delights, live music and a dedicated children’s corner – a great way to end the fabulous day at The Address Dubai Mall.
But the best part of the stay was the Deluxe suite itself- an elegant 45 sq mt suite including a balcony with views of the Burj Khalifa and the bustling, colorful Downtown arena. My favorite bit was the bathtub – with a sweeping view of the city and Charlotte Rhys bathroom amenities. The living room had a full sized desk and a fabulous gourmet coffee and tea station.
But what impressed me most was the personalized attention to detail and the in-room iPad which enabled me to place room service orders, set up appointments for The Spa, summon housekeeping etc. Free wireless internet sweetened the experience even more for a thoroughly pleasurable stay.
