What do you do with those boring granny-inspired sweaters lying in your closet? You tucked them away each time you got one as a Christmas present, swearing never to wear those reindeer-and-snowballs horror knits again. If you’re in the mood for some serious awesome this season, simply dust them out, try them on and whip them into shape!
1. Add a Bling Thing:
I simply adore this look! Wear your round-neck sweater over a collared shirt and then add a little pizzaz to the outfit with a statement choker necklace. Or you could pin a vintage brooch onto the jumper or perhaps even on one of the sleeves. Choose from metallic, sparkly and chunky choker or brooch to glam up your sweater.
2. Layer up:
Stuck with that notorious printed jumper? Don’t sweat- just layer it with a long scarf, clinch it with a slim belt if the jumper is long enough and throw on a tailored blazer over it. If that’s too stuffy for November, then simply swap the blazer with a sleeveless faux fur waistcoat. Voila! All anybody will be able to see, is just a hint of print on your nerdy schoolboy sweater and will actually enhance the ensemble.
3. Go Chunky:
Chunky, cable knit jumpers are the favor of the season so steal your boyfriend’s jumper and wear it like a sweater dress! Throw on some tights, (I’d prefer leather skinnies) ankle boots and a cross-body satchel for some serious attention around the block.
4. DIY project:
Sew on sequins, patchwork or even brass Buttons (or request mum to do it for you J). If you’re feeling artistic, bring out the Picasso in you, grab a felt pen and let your old sweater be your canvas!
5. Make it off shoulder!
Grab a pair of scissors and cut off the neck line of your old sweater to transform it into a sexy one shoulder smoulder :-P wear with dangling earrings and sweep your hair back to show off those elegant collarbones.
