It’s been quiet on the blog lately and I blame the summer malaise! As temperatures begin to drop and the season begins to pick up, I come out of my summer cocoon, which I’ve been spending with an array of bath and body products- My bathroom now resembles a mini spa and I’m definitely not complaining.
Over the summer, I picked up quite a few products from the Lush range to find a few new favs. Now I could swear by some of the Lush products I already have (‘Big’ shampoo, Chocolate Whipstick and Sugar lip scrub top the all time favorite list) but I wasn’t ready for what was about to hit me just now. Here’s why:
Love Lettuce: Fresh face pack
If the thought of scrubbing your face with green goo that smells like veggies turns you off, well, then get over it because this one scrub had my skin thanking me over and over again. I have the worst, most confused summer skin since (dry but with an oily T zone) which has consistently broken out every summer- Up until now, that is! In an effort to arm myself against the harsh summer, I decided to try out the ‘Love Lettuce’ face mask which promised to not only exfoliate the skin but also give it a moisture boost.
The effects of Love Lettuce were seen only after three weeks of usage, twice a week- but it was something of a miracle worker. I realized that this grainy exfoliator had done its job and how! There’ve been absolutely NO signs of breakouts, zits or even patchy skin this entire season spanning 2 brutally hot sunny months! This is definitely on my must have list from now on.
Considering how Dubai’s infamous tapwater has left my hair limp and dry, a rehab was in order, especially during the summer. However, along with being dry at the ends, my hair also has the misfortune of being oily at the roots so it’s double trouble again ( I seem to have the worst skin and hair problems ever known to humans).
While Lush’s Rehab did help in leaving the hair squeaky clean, off any product build up and fizz, it didn’t give me as much volume as I had expected. I realized I missed my very own Mr Big. For my hair, the best fit was undoubtedly BIG shampoo by Lush.
Rehab is really good though, if you’re looking to combat the humid fizz and grime that summer brings on.
American Cream Conditioner
Totally crushing on this amazing conditioner! It’s extremely light and never wears the hair down, like some heavy formulae in conditioners tend to do. The best thing about it is the softness and this lovely sheen it lends to the driest and limpest of hair types. Also, I’m loving the heavenly scent of American cream, strawberries and vanilla- absolutely seductive!
H’suan Wen Hua Hair mask:
Don’t be intimidated by the hard-to-pronounce name- I’ve had the best experience with this potent, easy to use and extremely effective hair mask that smells like a delicious infusion of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and love! (A lot of people find the scent a bit pungent, but I actually loved it )The creamy formula has to be applied once a week for 3-4 weeks to see its full effect and boy, was I pleased to see it!
It’s a huge moisture boost for thirsty hair and its ingredients gave my hair some serious gloss, silky softness and the cinnamon scent which lasted the whole week, even after two shampoo washes! After repeated use for over month and a half, I’ve decided this is my summer hair savior. My hair hasn’t been this manageable, fizz free and shiny in years!
Lush: Emotional Brilliance cosmetic range
I picked up these two color pots from the Emotional brilliance launch event and just been addicted to them! The ink blue eyeliner is a new fav and the peach color really complements my skin tone. Under nomal circumstances, these would’ve been the very last colors I would’ve picked but the emotional brilliance game convinced me- and am glad it did! Play the game and see what it’s all about at the Lush store.
