If there’s one thing that was on my mind as I browsed the AW ’12 Womenswear collection at the New Look ‘Wall to Wall event in Dubai, it was “Wow!” No really, the studded clutches, shoes and the very ‘luxe’ feel of the new collection had me making mental notes for a revamp of my own wardrobe. Time to ‘dress it up’ this season!
That wow factor continued from the luxurious evening wear to the casual day wear collection as well. Think ‘knits gone glam’, embellishments and edgy studs and spikes and a whole of amazing prints- geometric and baroque with tons of rich black and gold.
Under womenswear, the ‘The ‘Spellbound’ collection featured winter florals in a dark gothic palette, with studded, spiked leather and distressed, ripped denim- Very 80’s rocker meets biker chic!
The ‘Get Carter’ collection under womenswear is heavily influenced by the early 70s pop culture. The range has simple shapes with a focus on fabrics and textures with contrast collars, tapered trousers and oversized coats, pencil skirts, Peter Pan collars, shift dresses and mini skirts. Needless to say, this is my favourite- Infact, I’m just back from a shopping trip to New Look with my structured electric blue blazer and I’m in love!
Patterns and prints are huge this season and the ‘Kaleidofolk’ range featured this and more. Bold patterns including Aztec, paisley, ornate baroque, kaleidoscope and mirror print made for a spectacular collection and even though I’m not huge on prints, I’m seriously tempted to pick up some of these.
In all, a bold, sassy and ultra glam season at New Look and I’m loving it!
