“The cat liner is out!” I almost squealed in glee when I heard MAC experts, Vimi Joshi and Mariyam Khairallah’s comments on the season’s hottest make up trends. After a whirlwind stint around the globe, the gorgeous ladies were in Dubai to update beauty bloggers and editors on what to wear and how to wear it.
Organic, elementary inspired textures and color take center stage- which means a more natural, raw complexion is the order of the day, with a soft glimmer to highlight cheekbones. “The main thread throughout the season is the idea of outdoor, daylit beauty. The use of oils, highlighters and fine glitters to emulate dewdrop skin is the order of the day.
“It’s more about peach and cream blushes mixed with nuances of sculpting creams and soft highlights”, say the experts.
Thankfully, the elongated cat liner is ousted this season by more graphic, straight lines (I’m so over those catty eyes!).It’s time for a 50’s reboot with a simple liner drawn very close to the lashline without the exaggerated flick- the line ends at the outer corner of the eyes, without a fuss. However, the lashes are making quite the statement, with a 60’s Twiggy style take on the lower lashes and very feminine, full and long upper lashes. The 90’s slept-in eye is also big, with the liberal use of thick khol pencils, paint pots and anything that makes that effortless slept-in look. Think Kate Moss in the 90’s.
Lilacs, peaches, powder pinks and faint reds- It’s all about going natural this season. The palette is fresh and youthful, very girly and light. To complement the dewy fresh skin, lips are matte and well-defined but not loud.
I’m currently loving the new ‘Daydreaming Dahlia’ lip color from the Spring Summer collection – Light and pretty, it’s going to be the highlight of my makeup bag this season!
