Spray cans, graffiti, tagging and a whole lot  of fun- that  was the CK One Shock Street Edition launch in Dubai, with famous ‘Uban artist’, Fabel from New York. As I did our best to amb up my street cred after a fabulous graffiti master class by Fabel, I realized this urban urban art form is so much more than just scribbling on walls and murals- it has character and the power to reach out to people with a message.

That character is what CK One Shock Street Edition is aiming to portray, but not without the fun element! The Women’s edition has a candylicious, sweet scent, with top notes of citruses (bergamot and mandarin) combined with sweet plum zest. The mid notes have intense fruity notes, sweetened with dark chocolate and caramel (delish!), while the base is infused with patchouli, sandalwood, amber and musk.

The Shock Street Edition for him is exciting and spicy, with top notes of mojito combined with sparkling citruses. The heart accentuates delicate spices and geranium with cocoa accords in the base of the composition. I also loved the packaging, with graffiti font on the white and black bottle for women and men.

In all, a not-to-be missed limited edition for some rebellious summer fun!

The world’s oldest perfumes came from Pyrgos, Cyprus, more than 4000 years ago and even today, right now, modern perfumery discovers a hundred different types of scents every month, which come from various roots such as flowers, fruits, spices or even gourmand elements, to name just a few.

What’s even more intriguing about perfumes is that they tend to smell differently on different people and you really never know if you’re a ‘floral’ person or more of the ‘fruity type’ until you try it on yourself! I was on one of these discovery sessions when I came upon ‘Prose’ by iconic perfumer Ajmal, sitting pretty in a striking pink bottle.

As very young, spirited and fresh scent, Prose evokes a feminine, warm, and playful aroma. What I liked about it was the interplay between fresh, younger notes, and a more mature, and earthly aroma- perfect for me! With fresh citrus fruits such as orange, melon, and apple, with a fruity trifecta of strawberry, coconut, and sugar – it flirts with mid and base notes of a rich laden amber, vanilla, and musk.

But non smokers could now be part of the sub culture too, with its range of perfumes for men and women, some pretty cool stationery and even stylish watches and wallets!

I was especially bowled over by the watches- really funky, candy hued straps (loved the yellow one for women) and a few very sophisticated leather straps- round dials for men. I’m definitely getting myself one of these very soon- so striking and affordable! Also, I’m loving the packaging for the fragrances- just like the original Zippos, they click shut stylishly and are even refillable!

To me, Zippo is not about making smoking look ‘cool’ but its about the legacy of the iconic  brand and the journey of a $2 lighter that has adapted itself fabulously to the changing times.
