Peplums add flair to the outfit- I’d say they almost make you want to wear gloves and a hat just to go with the whole late 30s’ and early 40s’ derby lady look, don’t you think? The Peplum trend also made a brief comeback in the 1980s but was overshadowed by the big hair and padded shoulders of the time, I reckon.

Peplums accentuate and exaggerate the waistline and hips so they’re not recommended for wide hips. It’s a tricky one but when carried off well, can really make a sweeping fashion statement this summer.  I also love the modern twist to the traditional peplums with a play on textures, colors and shape- See Jil Sanders take on peplums to see what I mean!

3. Get Plaid:

I love a cute Scottish skirt and leggings just as much as the next girl but it reminds me too much of my school band days!

4. Skirt the issues:

Mid calf skirts are all the rage on the runway but few can carry off this awkward length-  Only Tall leggy women need apply! Full length skirts with reasonable knee high slits for the office (and sexier thigh high slits for the weekends) are a better bet for the rest of us!
