I will always think of Audrey Hepburn in her over the top white dress and that huge hat in My Fair Lady, when I think of dressing for the races. So when I was called upon the ‘Bloggers Style Challenge’ competition by Seduce Clothing- Middle East, an Australian boutique that recently launched in Dubai, I was thrilled to know the challenge was going to be ‘Dressing for the races!’ – More specifically, for the Dubai World Cup on March 31st.
Audrey Hepburn at the races in My Fair Lady
The aim was to style a lady of any given age for the most awaited event of the year, when the well heeled social butterflies get together for the ultimate style off. Statement hats, statement dresses, statement heels or statement clutches- infact the ones making the smallest statements may as well be the studs and jockeys. Atleast I, for one, have barely even glanced at the actual race on my trips to the derby, back in Mumbai. It’s so pretentious, it’s hilarious!

Even so, we love the races for the fabulous, sometimes quirky and frequently outrageous fashion, don’t we? For the style up at Seduce, I decided to attempt a modern My Fair Lady with a fitted blue dress, A pair of pink and nude snake skin (print) heels for some contrast and an oversized rainbow clutch for some color. I threw on a silk scarf with some blue in it as it’s usually windy at the races to complete the look. Now I wish the boutique housed some hats or fascinators but well, for the time being, I just had to imagine I had one on. If I had the choice, I’d opt for something like this:

Clearly, I couldn't make up my mind!
Love at first sight!
