It has been the epitome of style for smokers since the 1930s and has been a part of popular culture in over 200 Hollywood movies from Apocalypse Now to American Pie and from TV shows such as the I Love Lucy to the uber stylish Mad men.
But non smokers could now be part of the sub culture too, with its range of perfumes for men and women, some pretty cool stationery and even stylish watches and wallets!
I was especially bowled over by the watches- really funky, candy hued straps (loved the yellow one for women) and a few very sophisticated leather straps- round dials for men. I’m definitely getting myself one of these very soon- so striking and affordable! Also, I’m loving the packaging for the fragrances- just like the original Zippos, they click shut stylishly and are even refillable!
To me, Zippo is not about making smoking look ‘cool’ but its about the legacy of the iconic brand and the journey of a $2 lighter that has adapted itself fabulously to the changing times.
