To Try: VLCC Lip balm and Moisturizer:
I may have approximately 12 lip balms in my drawer at the moment but my search for the perfect one is never-ending. For me, each of my lip balms serve a different purpose- the shimmery ones for evenings and nights out, the tinted ones for a casual day affair and the un-tinted, intense moisture balms for daily use, even at home.
I recently came across VLCC’s moisture lip balm, which surprisingly fits the bill for all occasions! Dubai’s unforgiving dry winter is very harsh on the skin, hair and lips so I’ve been on the lookout for a multi-tasking lip balm for a while. This little lipper has proved to be quite the champion in terms of functionality and style – meaning intense moisture with SPF 15, delicious flavors and a subtle touch of color.
I also tried the VLCC moisturizer- which comes packaged in a sleek pot and has all the ingredients of a winter best friend – shea butter, honey extracts and essential oils of Jojoba, Almond and Olive hydrates- so nourishing! Having said that, I found the texture to be a bit heavy for the face but it works perfectly for the body. I’ve been using it every day for my hands and legs and to my delight, the dryness around my elbows has completely vanished and the skin feels super hydrated and incredibly smooth. I’d highly recommend it for dry skin.
To try: IsaDora cosmetics
I’m a huge propagator of value for money, especially when it comes to cosmetics since they’re meant to be used for a limited amount of time. Although I had never tried this brand before, the stylish packaging and fashion – forward colors appealed to me instantly. As I am always conscious about the ethical aspect of the cosmetic industry, the first thing I found out about the Swedish brand IsaDora is the fact that it cruelty free and does not test on animals.
This 100% mineral make-up brand has a gorgeous collection at Paris Gallery across the UAE but what I liked most is the Foundation – IsDora Velvet Touch in Sand Beige. I love how they made a distinction between warm and cool skintones for the same color, which is important to recognize since the same color can look so different on the two tones. Coverage is smooth and literally ‘velvety’ and its fragrance –free, mineral formula is a dream to work with. Light and efficient, this product is a valuable addition to my makeup-kit.
I also simply loved the IsaDora Build-up mascara Extra volume for it’s gorgeous results- absolutely no clumping while adding oodles of volume to the lashes and giving the eyes that full, seductive look. Another great product for the eyes is the Brow-shaping gel. While people pay so much attention to eye shadows, highlighters and liners, they often neglect the eyebrows- which actually make a huge difference to the over-all appearance of the face. With this brow shaping gel, it’s easy to groom and shape the brows for a gorgeous arch – it’s my new favourite!
Food: Tiramisu from Mamma Mia
Since I’ve been on a massive sweet binge, thought I may as well talk about my one awesome discovery – the incredible Tiramisu at Mamma Mia. I literally haven’t been able to think of anything else ever since I tasted this unbelievable item…not even shopping. I’ve never been a fan of Tiramisu but after a bite of this, I’m a changed woman!
